Ty Cobb, Steve Daniel, Bill Keappler and Sam Belcher were each recognized as a Smyrna Rotarian of the Month for March, April, May and June respectively. On the lighter side of things, Jerry Epps was recognized for carrying the Smyrna Rotary banner the furthest over the past year and Randy Carmichael was noted for his sense of fashion.
Cherry Gipson, Scott Auer, Don Parkerson, Jr., Sean Tintle, Brenda Romanchik, David McGinnis, Kevin Young, Jay Treadwell, Anthony Iorillo, Tim Gowens, Narayan Sengupta, Roy Strickland, Bill Keappler, Snyder Turner, Randy Carmichael and Jimmy Freeman were all recognized for their perfect attendance. Carmichael has 40 years and Freeman has 46 years! The perfect attendance award means that they have either made all the weekly meetings or done a makeup if they missed.
The Club itself received several recognitions including the Rotary District Citation, the President’s Citation and the Zone Public Relations Citation, one of only 14 Clubs in the this part of the state to receive it. Of the 71 Clubs in Rotary District 6900, Smyrna was just one of a few to receive all three awards. It has also consistently been recognized as being the top or one of the top Clubs in the District in per capita support of the Rotary Foundation.
